Lets think about this for a moment; The founders worried about the excesses of democracy and mob rule. The United States of America is not a democracy but a Republic. If the states with larger populations were given all the power, the rural areas would be dominated by the majority. If one looks at the map, by county, the only blue areas are where the big cities are and this map puts a nice 3D perspective in play.
The article below, almost goes as far as claiming this is not fair and that some state’s vote counts for more than others, this is not true. The electoral college balances it out and takes the power away from the mob. Like it or not, the electoral college did it’s job.
Conventional wisdom tells us that the electoral college requires that the person who lost the popular vote this year must nonetheless become our president. That view is an insult to our framers. It is compelled by nothing in our Constitution. It should be rejected by anyone with any understanding of our democratic traditions — most important, the electors themselves.
