As much as the election of Donald Trump goes against everything many people believe to be right, it happened, legally. We have to get over it.
The article below makes a good point, to paraphrase, ‘if you are going to change the electoral college system do it right.’ Further, I would go beyond an attack on the electoral college and repair how the primaries are done.
I don’t believe everyone is represented with only the two parties getting facetime. I also don’t think every Tom, Dick, and Harry in one party should be breathing up all the air. Last year, 17 Republicans had to have two debate stages. Based on the polls, they either were at the adult or the kiddy table as it was called. Would it be too much to at an additional table for 3rd party candidates?
Maybe some rules like if a candidate chooses not to show up for a debate, they are disqualified? If they lie, cheat or otherwise do something immoral, disqualified. We need to clean up who is running, not how the general election works.
States run the elections; start local, as questions, make changes.
